This was so demoralising, we wanted to quit.

Do you ever daydream about what your life would look like if all your wishes came true? If your business was thriving and so were you?

If you had more time, space and energy to focus on the things that really, truly matter to you?

Do you even know what matters to you?

We ask because it wasn’t so long ago that we were asked this question and our answers were less than solid.

In fact, they were so painstakingly uncertain, it stopped us in our tracks to the point where we began to reevaluate everything.

We’ve worn the Good Girls Who Work Hard badge with honour for decades. Always moving forward, always there to lend a hand and nod our heads to every ‘Can you just?’ request.

Barely pausing for breath, we did the doing, all the while, the deep, honest reflection our souls were craving lay dormant and ignored. Be we were none the wiser.

We climbed the ladders, took the promotions, did the overtime and on-call. Until one day, unhappy and unsatisfied, we slammed on the emergency brakes and leaped off.

Instead of hustling for everyone else, we chose to do it our own way and quickly built a profitable business serving an abundance of clients. We were congratulated, our egos massaged by our so-called success.

And yet, there we were, once again hustling for everyone else. It almost wore us into the ground, doing work we were great at but definitely didn’t love in a way that left us hurried and stretched beyond our limits.

How had this happened? It was our own business! We were the ones in control, the decisions were ours and ours alone. Who we worked with, the work we did, how and when and where we did it. Yet what we’d created didn’t serve our souls. We’d simply moved the treadmill we’d be racing on and it left us busy, burnt out and fundamentally frustrated.

Entrepreneurship was deeply rooted in our dreams and yet it felt so hard, so flawed. It was demoralising, to the point where we seriously wanted to quit.

The temptation to run away from it all was strong but we knew deep down, the pull to keep going and figure out a better way was stronger.

It was only when we began getting really honest with ourselves on a regular basis that the lights got switched on and we were once again illuminated.

Not only did we establish the clarity of our vision for our lives and our businesses, but the magic we hold and get to bring to the world became obvious. Our superpowers were staring us in the face and we knew with certainty how we could, should and would show up for ourselves, our clients, our loved ones and our audience.

Because the truth is, when you lose sight of where you truly want to be, what you deeply desire to experience and become, the drive, message and mindset you need to move forward is misaligned.

Isn’t it obvious?

Sure, it may sound obvious, but when you’ve got your head down working hard and doing all-the-things your life and business requires of you, it’s easy to lose your way.

Yet living and working almost unconsciously is a detriment to your power and possibilities.

Not only does it impact how you feel, it impedes your ability to write with confidence and ease, hampering the clarity of the offers you’re creating.

When you’re not clear on where you’re going, why you want to journey there and how you’ll make it happen, everything you’re busy with becomes distracting, energy-sapping noise.

The result? You sabotage your own success. Ouch. It’s painful but it’s true.

But there’s a way to avoid the sabotage.

It starts with clarity. Clear on who you’re serving, what you’re offering, where you’re sharing it, when it’s happening, how you’ll create it and why you’re doing it all.

Seeing the bigger picture for your business forms the basis of your strategy. And this is where you build out your messaging and identify the stories you’ll weave into your content and copy.

It’s where we start with every client we work with, helping them establish how they serve, scale and story tell.

So before you go and get busy again, ask yourself:

  • Who am I serving? Who is my audience? Who is my dream client?
  • What do my dream clients want? What do they desire? What do they need? What message do they need to hear? What stories can I share that are relevant and intriguing? What am I hoping for? What do I want?
  • Where am I doing this work? Where are my clients? How will I reach them?
  • When am I sharing this offer? When will it be available? When will I invite people in? When will it close?
  • How will I create what I’m offering? How will I share the message? How will my content look and feel?
  • Why am I doing this? Why do I feel passionate about offering this? Why do I want this to be a success?

And don’t just do this once. Do it again and again. Use it as a check in before you create a new offer. Use it to check in with yourself before you write any marketing copy so you go into it with a clear vision of what you’re wanting to achieve.

This is a practice. Don’t aim for perfection, be playful and listen to what you really desire to create.

Let your magic shine through.

It’s where we should all begin. For our lives, our businesses and our dreams.

Think big and design your route map to get there. And remember, you don’t have to do it along.

We’re right here ready to help you.

Gabrielle Bernstein

I discovered Gabrielle Bernstein in the summer of 2019, inhaling her book The Universe has got your back while on holiday in France. Since then I've literally read her entire repertoire. I can't get enough of her positivity and make picking an affirmation card the first task of my day.

Day dreaming

Alone, with friends, family or our clients, I LOVE dreaming up ideas. I believe anything is possible. The first step is allowing ourselves to imagine what those possibilities could be.

Being in the mountains

Mountains, I love 'em. I love looking at them, hiking them and the endless possibilities they hold. Our favourite place to explore in the UK is the Lake District. Whenever we have a spare weekend or day, I jump in our van and head to the mountains.
